Multi-Day Field Trips

Each grade level at City High School participates in a multi-day field trip during the academic year to enhance their knowledge of our region and to create community as a class.

In recent years, the big trips have included:

  • Grade 9 spending an overnight at Kitt Peak National Observatory.
  • Grade 10 traveling to Los Angeles, CA for an exploration of 20th-century history and culture, including visits to the Japanese National Museum, the Museum of Tolerance, and Homeboy Industries.
  • Grade 11 heading north on a statewide college tour with visits to Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and Prescott College.
  • Grade 12 experiencing a Mt. Lemmon retreat to celebrate their time together, expand their leadership skills as a class, and to mark the occasion of their upcoming graduation from high school.

In addition to the big multi-day field trips, students participate in one-day and half-day field study on a regular basis at regional sites, such as Biosphere II, Tumacacori National Historical Park, the Arizona State Capitol, San Xavier del Bac Mission, and multiple locations at the University of Arizona (Center for Creative Photography, Arizona State Museum, etc.).
