Academic Programs

A Challenging Academic Curriculum is a top priority and one of City High School’s 6 School Goals. With our small class sizes and highly qualified teaching staff, we ensure that:

Students engage in learning experiences that require them to practice and improve critical thinking and study habits. Students publicly demonstrate mastery of content knowledge and academic skills. The academic program prepares students for college, career, and life-long learning.

Students in all divisions are required to take core classes in English, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Additional course requirements include Spanish, art, and fitness. In addition to these requirements, students may choose from a range of electives that are offered each semester.

Our academic framework is built on project-based learning, literacy integration, social-emotional learning, culturally responsive practices, universal design for learning, and personalized competency-based learning.  These best practices combine to remove obstacles to student success, maximize student engagement, and create equitable learning outcomes for all- especially those historically marginalized by traditional school models and curriculums.
