Principal’s Notes
There are lots of special events and performances coming up during the last weeks of school. Please take a look at some of the announcements below and check in with your son or daughter about them. Hopefully you can make it to a few of them as well! Also, please look for the mailing going home this week with additional information about end-of-school events and schedules and AIMS results for those who took them. The mailing should arrive by Thursday.

In the Field – Performance by “The C.A.S.T.”
On Friday, May 12 students will attend a performance by The CAST, or Clean and Sober Theatre, a group of youth who do alcohol and drug use prevention and peer education through drama. City High School students will travel to the Beowulf Theatre on Sixth Avenue in advisory groups for the performance, which will take place during the last part of the school day. There will be a special schedule on Friday and electives are cancelled. CAST is sponsored by Compass Health Care. City Works Class Presents Student-Created Videos
On Friday, May 12 the “As I See It” City Works class will have a screening of their culminating projects at the Screening Room, a movie theater located at 127 E. Congress Street, at 7:00 p.m. The films were created, filmed, directed, edited, and produced by students. The event is co-sponsored by City High School and Pan Left Productions. Art In Reality (AIR) – Spring Show
All of the youth involved in AIR classes this semester will participate in a finale show called “Keeping it Real” on Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. For the first time ever, the AIR show will take place at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center at Reid Park (off of Country Club between 22nd and Broadway). There will be many City High performers in the show – students in karate, graffiti art, bellydancing, recycled fashions, flamenco … the list goes on. Come to support the youth and enjoy the performances!
First Annual Spring Formal – May 20
The Student Voice Committee is starting yet another tradition at City High School. We will have our first spring formal on Saturday, May 20, from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at the Historic YWCA on the corner of Fifth and University Avenues (just west of Epic Café). The theme is “A Night with the Stars” with “Hollywood attire requested”. The cost for the event is $5/person. All City High students are welcome to bring a guest from another school, but they must turn in a signed guest permission form by May 18.
