Principal’s Notes
Hopefully everyone enjoyed their long weekend. On Thursday we had teacher meetings throughout the day, focusing on academic and school culture issues. A number of students gave up their vacation day on Thursday to participate in school-related activities. Eight students traveled with teachers Elliott Lax and Leia Maahs to Prescott for a 3-day service learning and leadership camp. Another group participated in a special Veteran’s Day event next door with Voices, Inc. that brought together World War II era Tucsonans and City High School students together to launch the upcoming World War II oral history and photography project all students will be participating in next semester. Lastly, a group of students joined took part in the teacher inservice to talk in depth about their experiences at City High School and help shed light for staff on what’s working well this year and what areas we need to improve in.

In the Field
Division II students will travel to San Xavier Mission and Tumacacori National Historic Park on Thursday as part of their studies of the Spanish Colonial Era in humanities classes. Their visit to Tumacacori will be led by a tour guide dressed in character as Juan Bautista de Anza, as part of the Park’s “living history” program. To learn more about the two locations, visit their official websites: http://www.sanxaviermission.org and http://www.nps.gov/tuma. Parents are welcome to join the day-long field trip; to volunteer, contact Brett Goble bgoble@cityhighschool.org or Sarah Bromer at sarahb@cityhighschool.org or call them at 623-7223 x208. Division I students will travel to the Biosphere on Friday as they culminate their science unit on ecosystems. For more information about the trip, contact Jeff Hartman at x206 or via email jeffh@cityhighschool.org.
