Principal’s Notes
Students in Spanish classes have been busy studying and preparing for the Mexican cultural tradition of Día de los Muertos with a mask-making project. Spanish Teacher Mike Wilson worked in partnership with Tucson Puppet Works instructor Charles Swanson and Kim Helmer to lead students through the creative process. Students who are interested in taking the project to the next level can participate in the Tucson’s unique All Souls Procession wearing their masks on Sunday evening, November 6. (See the letter below for more information and website links.)

Many Mouths One Stomach
October 28, 2005
Dear City High Parents,
Greetings! My name is Charles Swanson and I am a puppeteer with Tucson Puppet Works and a board member of Many Mouths One Stomach, presenters of Tucson’s annual All Souls Procession. I’ve been conducting a mask workshop with Mike Wilson’s Spanish classes in anticipation of this year’s procession. We’ve made over 80 masks and I am overjoyed that we’ve made this connection with the City High community. It will undoubtedly be a great augmentation to the celebration.
I’d like to extend a personal invitation to you, your family and your friends to this year’s All Soul’s Procession. We will be gathering at the corner of 4th Avenue and 6th Street at 5pm on November 6th. The procession will start at 6pm and goes down 4th Ave, under the underpass, down Congress a block to 6th St., north on 6th to Toole, and down Toole to the finale which is on the concrete docks at Toole and Franklin in the downtown Warehouse district. You can come in a costume, or just watch from the side of the road. This event is very inclusive, family friendly and a great time.
There are more details about the procession and our organization at www.allsoulsprocession.org and www.manymouths.org.
Muchas Gracias! I hope to see you at the procession.
Charles Swanson
