Weekly Bulletin
for City High School Families

August 22, 2005

Principal’s Notes
Welcome to a new school year! Last week was spent with orientation and retreat days. Hopefully students now are back in the rhythm of the school year and ready to hit the books! Regular classes start this week. Students will be receiving syllabi and their first homework assignments from their teachers.

Students received the student handbook in advisory last week and will spend time this week discussing it in more depth. We expect families to review the handbook with their son or daughter and sign off on the handbook to demonstrate that they have read the school’s expectations and policies. All signature pages are due before September 15.

I am committed to ensuring that parents and families are part of the City High School community. The Weekly Bulletin is one way to keep families informed. Students receive a copy of the Bulletin the early part of each week, so please ask your child to see it to ensure that it makes it home ? The Weekly Bulletins are also posted on the school website.

Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions or suggestions as we start the year 2 at City High School.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Construction is wrapping up with the new Pennington Street Parking garage and the road repairs are complete. The street continues to be one-way from Stone to Scott and has been reduced to one lane. From Scott to 6th Ave. the street is now two-way. Pennington Street has been converted to angled parking and there has been an increase in the number of parking spots. The four parking spots directly in front of the school are our “drop-off/pick-up zone”. Please use these in the mornings and afternoons and avoid stopping on the street (in traffic) to drop off or pick up your child.

Lunch Sign-Up
Students need to order and pre-pay for lunches so that we have an accurate count each day when ordering from the restaurants. Families can order and pre-pay for the amount of time and lunches that they prefer – weekly, monthly, by semester, for the year. If a student is signing up weekly, we request that they submit their order the Friday before. Students or parents can pick up lunch sign-up sheets at the front office.
