Principal's Notes

The City Works classes will culminate this year with an evening presentation for parents, peers, and community members on Wednesday, June 1. Students are working over the next three weeks in their City Works classes on finalizing their learning from the year and organizing 15-minute sessions that they will run in groups. The evening event, called “City Works Showcase”, will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m and will run like a conference with opening speaker and panel, concurrent sessions, and a closing ceremony. (Please see the flyer and schedule on the back.) We are excited to have as many parents and other family members participate as possible, so please mark your calendars.

All students will be required to participate in the City Works Showcase. We will have a special schedule on June 1, with the school day running from 1:30-8:00 p.m. The schedule will be very similar to a normal Wednesday, with whole school meeting, City Works classes meeting for final preparations, an early dinner break (instead of lunch), and then the event at 6:00 p.m. If you have any questions about the evening requirement or the event itself, please call me at 623-7223. Please note that we will also send notification home through the mail next week about June 1 and other year-end special events and schedules.

Confirmation Forms for 2005-2006
All families should have received a mailing from the school earlier this week with a pre-registration form and letter. These forms confirm that your son or daughter is returning to City High School next year and reserves a space for them. The deadline for returning the forms to Lynn Schneuker is Monday, May 16. The completed forms will help us have a better sense of available spaces as we enroll new 10th and 11th graders for next year.

Spirit Week & Talent Show
The week of May 23 will be Spirit Week at City High School. The week will culminate in a talent show on Friday, May 27. Students interested in performing in the talent show will need to submit a proposal for their act and participate in a run-through on Wednesday, May 25 at 8:30 a.m. (Please see flyer on back.)

Founders’ Field Day & Picnic – Parent Volunteers Needed
We are beginning plans for a field day and picnic the final week of school. The event will likely take place Wednesday, June 8 from 8:30-noon. We would love to get as many parents involved as possible and will be seeking volunteer help. Please let Lynn or Carrie know if you would be interested and we will follow up next week.
