Principal’s Notes
I hope everyone had a restful spring break. We’re gearing up for the final stretch of the school year, with ten weeks left until summer vacation. Please note that third quarter ends on April 8, at the end of next week. Students will receive grade printouts in all of their core classes to help them gauge their current status in their classes. Students should be working with their teachers this week and next to complete make-up work and revisions before third quarter report cards are issued. If you have any questions about your son or daughter’s progress, please contact their advisor.

Students, teachers, and board members will be staffing the City High School booth at Fiesta Grande this weekend, April 2-3. The annual street fair takes places along Grande Avenue in Barrio Hollywood. Come by and visit!

City Works Focus
The Studio Art City Works class is working hard to produce an exhibit of student artwork, which will open on April 15. The exhibit will show at the 4th Avenue studio, Dinnerware Contemporary Arts, from April 15-30. Look for an invite soon with more details about the opening event on April 15. Another major project the class has undertaken is assembling a book featuring local artists. To raise funds to support their various efforts, the Studio Art City Works class has organized a fundraising committee that is holding bake sales throughout second semester. The next one is tomorrow morning (see flyer on back).

Community Advisory Council
The second meeting of the Community Advisory Council will take place Thursday from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the school. The Community Advisory Council is a forum to bring together students, staff, parents, and board members to review and discuss issues related to teaching and learning at City High School. Our first meeting took place January 27. The council is co-facilitated by board members Suzanne Dhruv and Diana Olivares. Parent representatives on the council include Maria Bustamante, Elizabeth Cuestas, Lynda Hendrell, and Rebecca Hill; staff members include Carrie Brennan and Camellia Cosgray. We are looking for more parent and student participants. Anyone interested should contact Carrie Brennan at carrie@cityhighschool.org.

CITY HIGHlights: Annual Spring Fundraiser
“City Highlights” will be a fun afternoon of downtown exploration featuring special tours of the Arizona Historical Society, the Rialto Theater, MOCA, and the newly-renovated Train Depot. The fundraising event will also include an open house at the school, with exhibitions of student work, live music, student performances, food and drink. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about the event, please call the school, 623-7223. We hope that all of our City High School families will attend the special event, April 30 from 2:00-6:00 p.m.. Tickets cost $20/person and $30/couple; students 16 and under are free. Look for an invitation in the mail soon!
