Principal’s Notes
Spring is in the air and that means, among other things, that it is time again for statewide testing. Tenth graders will be taking reading and writing portions of the AIMS test this week (see below) and the math section on April 12. Arizona ninth graders will be taking a new test this spring, called the TerraNova. Testing dates for TerraNova will be in mid-April. Please contact me if you have any questions about state testing or if you anticipate your child will be absent during the testing days.

AIMS Tests This Week – All 10th Graders
All tenth graders will take the reading and writing portions of the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) test this week. The writing test will take place Tuesday, 2/22 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. The reading test will take place Wednesday, 2/23 from 12:15-2:30 p.m. All students will be required to pass the AIMS to graduate. This is the first opportunity for tenth graders to take the test. We’re hoping all will pass it and avoid having to do retakes in the fall of their junior year.

Bienvenidos a Roberto Avila
Our new Spanish teacher started this week. Roberto Avila hails from Hermosillo, Mexico and has been living in Tucson the past couple of years. Roberto has worked with elementary, middle, and high school age students in Mexico and in the United States. Please feel free to drop by or give him a call, 623-7223 x208.

Reminder – Lunch Money Due
Lunches are available for sale on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, just like first semester: Mondays sandwiches, Wednesdays pizza, and Fridays hamburgers. Vegetarian options are available all three days. (We are negotiating with another restaurant to add lunch service on Tuesdays as well and will send out information once it is confirmed.) Students can order lunches for whichever days and number of weeks they choose. Please note: to avoid having extra lunches, we will be ordering only a few over our count each week. Students cannot rely on having lunches available to purchase without having pre-ordering. Lunch forms are available from Lynn at the front desk. Any questions, please call Lynn, 623-7223.
