Parent Volunteers Needed - Trip to Gem & Mineral Show
On Thursday and Friday afternoons of this week (2/10 and 2/11) we have been invited to bring City High School students to the Gem and Mineral Show at the Tucson Convention Center. In order to make this work, we’re looking for adults to volunteer to come along with us. It would be great to have up to 10 adults for each day. The time commitment would be from approximately 12 to 2 on either Thursday or Friday, walking from and back to school with the students. And, of course, all volunteers will get the opportunity to attend the show for free. Please contact the school by phone at 623-7223 or via email to either Carrie or Elliott if you are interested in joining us (carrie@cityhighschool.org or elax@cityhighschool.org).
Lunches for Second Semester
Lunches are available for sale on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, just like first semester: Mondays sandwiches, Wednesdays pizza, and Fridays hamburgers. Vegetarian options are available all three days. (We are negotiating with another restaurant to add lunch service on Tuesdays as well and will send out information once it is confirmed.) Students can order lunches for whichever days and number of weeks they choose. Please note: to avoid having extra lunches, we will be ordering only a few over our count each week. Students cannot rely on having lunches available to purchase without having pre-ordering. LUNCH FORMS are available from Lynn at the front desk. Any question, please call Lynn, 623-7223.
Tutoring Continues - Tuesdays and Thursdays
We continue to offer after-school tutoring services free of charge twice a week. Math tutoring is every Tuesday from 3:45-4:45. Tutoring for reading, writing, and humanities assignments is every Thursday from 3:30-4:30. Please encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to get extra help or just to complete their homework in a structured environment at school.
Drama Elective On a Roll
Last week at our whole school meeting, students and teachers were treated to a charming production of "Alice" - put on by the first semester drama class. The group will perform the play again this Friday at the school and the show is open to the public (see flyer on back). In addition, they are taking their performance on the road with a visit to Lynn-Urquides Elementary school on Wednesday morning, February 9.
Lost and Found is Overflowing
Is your son or daughter missing a sweatshirt, notebook, gym bag, or other item? Everyone who has lost something over the past few months, should see Lynn at the front desk. We will be giving away all unclaimed items away to a charity at the end of this month.
